WHAT IT IS: Following 2020’s TikTok-assisted viral track “Dress”—the gender-nonconformity tune inspired by Harry Styles’ Vogue cover—Massachusetts native Charlotte Sands has established herself as a next-gen female powerhouse. Carving out her own lane in music from the age of 16, Sands pulls inspiration from both early 2000s pop-punk bands and folk singer/songwriters to create her electro-laced indie-pop/rock sound. Delivering earnest lyrics and a raw relatability, Sands speaks to the misfit in all of us, and with her six-track debut EP, Special, she’s gearing up for the next phase of her career.
